Diabetic Retinopathy is characterized by progressive damage to the retina caused by complications from diabetes. It can result in decreased vision or, in some cases, blindness.
Treatment will vary with the severity of your case of diabetic retinopathy and how it has responded to previous treatments. Effective blood sugar control can, in some cases, slow the progression of diabetic retinopathy.
Your retina specialist may employ laser surgery or intravitreal injections in more advanced cases to slow or stop the progression of the disease.
If you believe that you are experiencing conditions as described above or are concerned about the health of your eyes, it is important to see an eye care specialist immediately. If you have been diagnosed with a retina condition or have been referred to a retina specialist in East Tennessee and would like to make an appointment with Dr. Matt Cole, Knoxville Retina Specialist at Drs.
